About Azle, Texas:
The first person to settle in Azle was a doctor named James Azle Steward who moved into a cabin in 1846. Once people began moving into the area, the area was known as O’Bar after the first postmaster. After Steward donated his land for the town, it was named Azle after him.
Early on, the economy in Azle was based on traditional farming, as well as dairy farming. In the late 1900’s, the town quickly transitioned to manufacturing and suburban housing and shopping as people expanded from Dallas.
